Winter 2010

Over the winter, Cali learned many things including running, climbing the stairs, climbing onto furniture, getting into everything (we had to install the cabinet locks) and how to whine when she doesn't get what she wants. But little Miss Independent learned some fun things, too, like how to give kisses (pucker and all) and how to point to her belly button (favorite), eyes, nose, ear, teeth, hand and foot.

Cali loves music and dancing! Her favorite songs are "if you're happy and you know it" (she claps and points to her face) and "Hokey Pokey" (she turns in circles)

A couple of weeks ago I swear that Cali's sense of humor kicked in. It was like all of sudden she realized how to make us laugh - and not just on accident! She does so many funny things and a lot of fun to play with. She has started talking but it is jibberish still - I know she is trying to communicate though!

Cali loves for mommy to read her books. She will bring book after book for us to read together and by the time we're done, we have a big stack! One funny story is that some of her books have too many words for her to be patient with so I have shorter versions where we just say what the pictures are, or only read part of the words. John was reading one of her books to her recently, but he didn't know mommy's version. Halfway thru, Cali grabbed the book and brought it over to me so I could read it to her. After I started, she gave John a look like "see, that's how you read it!" It was sooooo funny.
