Today we saw Dr. Boschee ("Boshay") for Cali's 2-month check-up. She weighed in at 8lb 15oz!!! She is 22 in long -- as soon as Dr. B walked in he said "wow, look how long she is!" Our little peanut is almost a 9-pound peanut, but she is still very lean. I knew she was getting some shots as well and I was nervous for her! It really wasn't that bad and it was over really quick. She had an outburst cry for like 2 seconds and then I gave her back her paci and she was fine. What I did not expect was for them to do bloodwork - Dr. B wants to keep on eye on her blood counts because of the family history of anemia. For a baby, this means a heel stick. And it was not quick...I had to hold her while the nurse was squeezing the blood out of her heel and I swear it took 5 minutes or more. Cali was screaming and arching her back and trying to get away, meanwhile I was trying to hold her still and I was holding the other leg out of the way. This part was worse than the shots, but at least it's all over now and Cali is doing fine this evening.
We go back to see Dr. B in 2 months and between now and then there's not much "homework" as he calls it...just keep up the same feedings and spread them out a little if Cali is able to. Last night she missed her nighttime feeding because she slept through to 4am, but we'll see what happens the rest of this week. It would be nice if she started sleeping for longer periods, but we'll see...
